John Douglas Hancock was killed in action in France in the final push in WW1 on 25th Aug 1918. He is buried in a CWG at Achiet le Grand close to The Somme. He was aged 31 and left behind a wife Josephine Hancock (nee Cross – my grandmother) and four daughters under 5 years of age. My mother age 98 is his last survivng daughter and her name is also Edith Rosina. We are descended from Henry Hancock b.1798 in Bath and Charlotte Witcher.
