Hello – Dorothy Edith Johnson is my grandmother. My Grandfather I believe to be named William Herbert Hayman.That is the name recorded on his gravestone.
The facts regarding his death we agree on but on his gravestone.his date of birth is given as 13th December 1887. Family research never found any trace of him under that date but I believe it to be 13th December 1876.
I know a bit more if you are interested.

This is an interesting one Alan. I know William Herbert’s early life and first marriage and I don’t have a record of his wife’s death. So my reasoning that he was the same one as that of the one with a 1929 (1 Jun) second marriage (to your grandmother) iand a 1942 death is, I guess, now questionable.
In my defence WH lived all his adult life in South London and he is still there (with his new wife) in the 1933 electoral registers (33 Cicada Road, SW18). But I’ve just looked on the 1939 ‘census’ and his DOB is again recorded as 23 Dec 1886 so I’m going to renove his ‘second life’ from my tree.
